In Avon, CT, a homeowner encountered a garage door that would not open, which led to the discovery of a snapped spring. A broken spring leaves a garage door inoperable and requires proper technical service to safely replace.
After assessing the setup, we presented three replacement options: standard cycle springs, 20,000-cycle high-life springs, or custom heavy-duty high-cycle springs rated for 65,000+ cycles. The customer chose the heavy-duty high-cycle option for maximum durability. Measurements were taken, and the custom springs were brought back and installed the following day.
During the spring replacement process, we also upgraded the door's cheap plastic rollers to high-capacity rollers. Once the springs and rollers were installed, we tested the door and noticed it was binding and unable to close properly. Further inspection revealed that the track was slightly bent, preventing the door from passing through the radius portion of the track.
To correct the alignment, we placed spacers between the tracks and the wall. This adjustment eliminated the bind, allowing the garage door to operate smoothly and efficiently.
